~sits in stunned silence~ Ooookay...I just finished reading
Bad Moon Rising this morning at work and I am...shocked.
What a freakin' turn of events!
Please be aware that I am going to have some pretty big
SPOILERS here, so if you want to read this book and not know what happens, then don't read anymore of this.
So...where to begin. ~ponders~
Well, first of all I love that the book covers such a vast time period, from the first time the Kattalakis clan met the Peltiers right through everything that we already saw happen in Vane and Fury's books.
I was happy to finally learn what was
really going on with Fang while he was in his coma. I was
SO annoyed with Vane when he was being an ass and thought that Fang was just being a big baby and had given up on life because he couldn't deal with everything that happened. But when Aimee told Vane about what had really happened to Fang and Vane practically molests and then attacks Fang for being pig-headed, I was unbelievably happy that the brothers made up...for the most part. ~sighs~
I felt
horrible for Aimee and Fang throughout the whole book. Right from the beginning, they were enthralled with one another but knew that their relationship could never be...or well, thought that it could never be. I felt just as helpless as Aimee and Fang about their relationship. I thought that maybe...just maybe...if I projected my thoughts into the story, that all would be well and they would have a happily ever after.
I in no way found this book at all disappointing, but the ending completely caught me off guard. I've never hidden the fact that I didn't like Nicolette...but I was horrified when she was killed. Of course, just when she redeems herself, she has to die. And not only kill herself, but Papa Bear as well...who I always loved. Damned Mama Lo!
One thing that I absolutely love about Sherri's writing is that she has a remarkable talent for really throwing emotion in her readers' faces. When she described the reaction of the Peltier bears to their parents deaths, I could feel every ounce of hurt that overtook them. It was the second time that a book has brought me to tears.
But, despite all of the drama and anguish that comes along with this book, there are also plenty of laughs, thanks to the Peltier and Kattalakis brothers. I love Fang's sarcastic sense of humor and zangy wit.
One of my favorite scenes was when Fang and Fury finally work shit out between each other and call a truce...by beating the shit out of one another. At first I was upset with Fang for attacking Fury, considering Fury has
JUST said that he didn't expect anything better from Fang being that every other member (with the excpetion of Vane) has tried to kill him when they found out what he was. But as Aimee and Dev watched them fight and Dev held Aimee back from breaking it up, I realized that they needed to get all of their anger and betrayal out on one another before they could ever become brothers. And sure enough...well, anyway, it was a very touching and humourous scene.
Oh! And I almost forgot! I nearly died when Savitar was about to kill Fang. I mean, realistically, I knew Fang couldn't die, being that this book is his HEA, but still...Sherri had me on the edge of my seat until the very last second. I'm pretty sure I held my breath for a good 2 pages, not know what was going to happen. And then, when Vane was willing to give up his life for Fang, even though that would mean leaving a pregnant Bride alone with their son Trace, and never seeing his mate and children again...it just made me love Vane even more than I already did. ~loving sigh~
Ooo..there is so much to say about this book...too much as a matter of fact. So I will leave it at this for now, until a discussion sparks up. Until then, all I can say is this book was absolutely fantastical. Definately gets two thumbs up from me! ~cheeky grin~
